Makau Sets New World Record In Men's Marathon

Patrick Makau of Kenya broke world record to win Berlin Marathon on Sunday. 
Patrick Makau pulled away 27 kilometers and finished only in 2 hours , 3 minutes and 18 seconds.

Haile Gebrselassie from Ethiopia held the previous record of 2 minute, 3 minute and 59 seconds pulled up after Patrick Makau's breakaway.

For 27 kilometers he was second about two minutes behind Patrick Makau, but appeared to have finally given up before finishing line.

Haile Gebrselassie from Ethiopia had won 4 successive Berlin marathons from year 2006 and set his world record of same in 2008.

The 26-year-old Patrick Makau brandished the Kenyan flag after coming through landmark Brandenburg Gate and crossing finish line.

Mikitenko clocked in 2 hours, 3 minutes and 18 seconds. and Radcliffe finished in 2 hours , 3 minutes and 46 seconds.
